NIC DISTRIBUTION OF MANUALS AND HANDBOOKS
The Network Information Center asks that whenever basic manuals or
handbooks are produced by Network participants, a sufficient
quantity be made to supply NIC with copies for distribution. For
good Network communication, NIC now plans to distribute such
documents to all Station Agents for use as reference copies, to
Liaisons for their own use, and, when desirable, to outside
participants for understanding of the Network.
The number of Network participants receiving such distribution is
now approaching 80, and with the usual need for additions and
replacements, NIC now makes 100 copies of most documents. NIC
therefore requests that Network members issuing manuals and other
large working documents assist by providing the necessary 100 copies
at the time of issuance.

§1The NIC's Distribution Plan
The Network Information Center asked network participants to provide enough copies of basic manuals and handbooks for the NIC to distribute. The planned recipients included Station Agents, Liaisons and, when appropriate, people outside the network who needed to understand it.
The NIC wanted to distribute useful manuals to people across the network. It asked the groups that wrote them to provide copies.
§2Number of Copies
The number of network participants receiving documents was approaching 80. The NIC said it usually made 100 copies of most documents to cover additions and replacements, and asked members issuing manuals or other large working documents to provide 100 copies when they were issued.
The NIC asked sites to provide 100 copies of most important documents. This allowed for the current distribution and for replacement copies.
§3Who Receives the Documents
The NIC planned to distribute reference copies to Station Agents and Liaisons, and to outside participants when it considered that useful for understanding the network.
Station Agents and Liaisons would receive reference copies. The NIC could also send copies to outside participants when needed.
