New Protocol is Coming
We are currently preparing a clean version of the Network protocol,
hopefully suitable for immediate implementation. As advertised, we
will send these specs out on April 28.
Since the SJCC is one week later, we will host a discussion meeting in
Atlantic City, Thursday, May 7, win the afternoon. The purpose of the
discussion meeting will be for us to explicate unclear details of our
April 29 document, and for everyone to exchange gripes, suggestions
and schedules.
(Note that the network session, chaired by Larry Roberts with papers
from BBN, et al is Thursday morning.)

§1A Clean Protocol Document Is Planned
Jon Postel and Steve Crocker say they are preparing a clean version of the Network protocol, which they hope will be suitable for immediate implementation. They say they will send the specifications on April 28.
The note itself does not include the specification.
The authors are preparing a clearer version of the Network protocol and hope it will be ready to implement. This short announcement does not contain the protocol rules.
§1A Meeting to Discuss the Details
The authors plan a discussion meeting in Atlantic City on Thursday, May 7, during the afternoon, one week after the Spring Joint Computer Conference. They intend to explain unclear details of the document and give participants time to exchange complaints, suggestions and schedules.
The note also says a network session chaired by Larry Roberts, with papers from BBN and others, is scheduled for Thursday morning.
The planned meeting will let participants ask about unclear parts of the specification and share feedback and schedules. The note also mentions a separate network session that morning.
§1Scope of This RFC
RFC 45 is an announcement of work in progress and a planned discussion. It gives expected dates and purposes but does not report whether the specification was sent or what the meeting decided.
The note states what the authors plan to do. It does not record whether those plans were carried out.
